It reflects the Greco-Roman architecture style. It was 1906 when it got its prestigious name “Forest Research Institute”. The campus is spread over 1,235 acres. The main of the Institute was designed by Architect C.G. Blomfield.

It is a place of worship for the Sikh community in Dehradun. However, people from other communities also visit the Darbar. It is dedicated to Guru Ram Rai. He was the eldest son of Guru Har Rai. People believe that “Dehradun” got its name from the “dera” or “camps” established by Baba Ram Rai in the “Doon” valley. The Architecture of the building is inspired by the Indo-Islamic architectural style. 

The beautiful paintings, gardens, and tombs are enough to mark it as an architectural masterpiece of Dehradun. The central complex of the monument was completed in 1699. However, the construction of the building continued even after the death of Baba Ram Rai. It was under the surveillance of his beloved wife Mata Panjab Kaur.
